Privacy Policy

This page will explain how I use personal data that I have collected from readers, in compliance with GDPR to the best of my knowledge.

What is collected?

The data I collect includes the names & email addresses of readers that opt in to my newsletter.

How is it collected?

It is collected when readers sign up to the newsletter in exchange for a free download of a short story and / or novella. Their information is then stored as a list on the third party service Mailchimp. The exchange of an email address for a story is made clear to the reader as they opt in.

How do I use this data?

I send newsletters to my list of contacts through the Mailchimp email campaign service. I do not directly email people on this list unless we have already established direct communication eg. through social meda or email.

Marketing.

A significant part of the newsletter is marketing, either indirectly or directly. I may let readers know of an upcoming book I am planning to release, or let them know about books published by other authors. I may encourage readers to beta read, review, or purchase a book of mine or of other authors. This is made clear at the time of sign up.

Links on this website that direct to other websites may be affiliate links.

What are your data protection rights?

Every user is entitled to the following:

  • The right to access. That is, you can request a copy of your personal data. This request will be complied with free of charge

  • The right to rectification. That is, you can request that I correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.

  • The right to erasure. That is, you can request that I erase the data I have that pertains to you.

  • The right to restrict processing. That is, you have the right to object to my processing of your personal data.

  • The right to data portability. That is, you have the right to request that I transfer the data I have collected to another organization, or directly to you.

For a full break down of the conditions that apply to the above, see the GDPR laws and the relevant laws of your country.
